My first ever YouTube video!
I want to look back in a year and feel even more embarrassed by this video than I feel now.
Last year, a friend asked me about my best piece of work, and I didn't know how to respond.
I don't have any longer-form pieces with a proper story arch or a beginning, middle, and end.
Instead, I only have a collection of small, separate pieces. While I am proud of that, I feel the need to delve deeper and experiment with new more challenging and rewarding mediums!
Today, I have finally uploaded my first-ever YouTube video.
Editing it was a painful experience as I am not accustomed to hearing the sound of my voice.
I cringed throughout the entire process, but I don't regret it! To level up, one must go through a phase of total discomfort until things begin to consolidate.
I used a script for the voiceover because I am still not comfortable talking to a camera or a microphone naturally.
Acquiring this skill is one of my goals for this year.
In the age of mass communication, being articulate on the spot is a priceless skill.
My goal is to look back in a year and feel even more embarrassed by this video than I feel now.
My mantra for this year is: Whatever scares you, do it.
Hiding behind a screen and a keyboard is not a sustainable long-term plan.
I would greatly appreciate it if you gave the video a watch!
I'm also open to constructive feedback!
Much love and respect,
Ash Lamb
