Join the build in public movement!
I'm building a directory of people building projects in public and I'd love to include you!
I recently realized that many of the big decisions in my life happened after seeing how others were documenting their journey.
Witnessing people like me achieve things I thought were impossible opened my mind. It helped me take the leap to share my ideas instead of being afraid of putting my work out there.
That's how I got into making visuals. I was avoiding some client work when I found a designer who was documenting his journey as an aspiring full-time creator. This inspired me to create a Twitter account and connect with others doing the same. The rest is history!
Sometimes, we just need some proof that someone is living our dreams to take that first step with conviction.
I often find myself exploring what other people are doing on the internet. I love getting ideas from regular people building extraordinary projects. One story leads to another, and suddenly, I've learned about many new ways of living. Some folks make a living selling onions online, while others design websites for churches, and some teach gardening on their blogs.
Most of my internet friends engage in exploring others' projects for inspiration, just like I do. The inspiration they gain from exposing themselves to other active people pursuing their vision makes all the difference.
But because algorithms have a bias to only promote very popular projects, I wanted to make it easier to find hidden gems, so as someone who loves to build new things, I couldn't help but create publicgems.com, a directory of amazing people building in public!
In the two years since I started sharing my work, I've connected with amazing people worldwide and I want this directory to be a place where all these people come together to inspire those who are looking for a new path. I don't know where this project will lead, but at least I want to give it a try!
Worst case scenario it doesn’t get enough traction to justify the work and I continue focusing on my main projects.
If this resonates with you, join me by filling out this form.
I'd love to include you in the directory!
It doesn't matter how old you are, where you're from, or what you're working on. If you like sharing your work and connecting with others who create cool stuff, you're more than welcome.
With much love and respect,
Ash Lamb

What a great idea, Ash! I love watching people build in public too. And you're right - it's hard to find those hidden gems to fill our feeds.
