Mind full vs mindful
A short story about the importance of cherishing every moment, no matter how insignificant it may seem. In a few years from now you'll wish you could go back in time and live it again.
Hello there beautiful people! My name is Ash Lamb, and this is The Visual Growth Letter. An illustrated newsletter about life and creativity.
Once there was a young man who lived happily with his family in a lovely house in a small village.
ㅤ
His family consisted of his parents, his sister, and their loyal dog. They owned a cozy bakery, where the young man helped his parents with joy and satisfaction.
ㅤ
His days were filled with fun and purpose. In the mornings, he happily worked alongside his parents, kneading dough and baking delicious bread.
ㅤ
In the afternoons, he played sports with his old friends, enjoying their company and friendly competition. And at night, he pursued his passion for art, expressing himself through various creative endeavors.
ㅤ
One day, the young man's father sent him to the big city to buy a new bread-making machine for the bakery.
ㅤ
Excited for the adventure, he embarked on the journey, eager to explore new surroundings.
ㅤ
However, as he navigated the bustling city streets, he couldn't help but notice the fast-paced and overwhelming lifestyle.
ㅤ
Along the way, he saw a huge sign advertising a book titled something like:
ㅤ
"How to Get Rich and Be Happy: My Book Will Change Your Life!"
ㅤ
Initially, he paid no attention to it, but as he arrived at the shopping center, he kept seeing the book everywhere.
ㅤ
The store clerk, under pressure from their boss, promoted the book as well.
ㅤ
Eventually, curiosity got the best of him, and he ended up buying the book, and reading it on the train ride back home.
ㅤ
Before he knew it, the young man became obsessed with the idea of modern success. He stopped living in the present, locking himself in his room, relentlessly building a business in pursuit of immense wealth.
ㅤ
His family grew concerned as he constantly spoke about money and his future dreams of luxury. He believed that only by becoming rich could he find true happiness.
ㅤ
The activities and gatherings that once brought him joy were forgotten as he became fixated on achieving the so-called American dream.
ㅤ
Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and months into years.
ㅤ
Time slipped away quickly until he found himself living alone in a grand penthouse in the city.
ㅤ
It was at this moment that he realized he had fallen into a trap.
ㅤ
He had sacrificed everything for material wealth and now found himself imprisoned in a cold and empty existence, working as an executive for a soulless corporate bread factory.
ㅤ
Years had passed, and his parents had grown old.
ㅤ
His beloved dog had passed away, and his sister had followed in his footsteps, leaving the family and pursuing "her own dreams".
ㅤ
The family bakery had to be sold due to his absence.
ㅤ
Regret weighed heavy on his heart as he realized he had spent his life chasing fleeting moments instead of cherishing the present.
ㅤ
And then he woke up. It was all a bad dream, a cliché but powerful reminder.
ㅤ
He had fallen asleep after returning from the city, and the dream had served as a message from the universe or a higher power.
ㅤ
The message was clear:
ㅤ
He should not fill his mind with things that held no real value. He needed to live mindfully, appreciating the present moment. It was in the present that true happiness could be found.
ㅤ
With this revelation, he embraced his family, rediscovered his love for the bakery, and allowed his artistic spirit to flourish once again. He understood that the simple joys of life were the most valuable treasures, and he vowed to savor each moment with gratitude.
Thank you so much for reading!
I truly appreciate your readership and support. Without you, this project wouldn't be the same. :)

I’ve created an illustrated summary of a book that changed my perspective on life years ago, The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari. You can check it out right here.
