Our modern society is obsessed with material wealth. We measure people's success with the amount of money they have sitting in the bank. We sometimes even believe that happiness comes with having a bunch of fancy stuff. For the better or the worse money is necessary to live a good life, but once you've covered your basic needs start looking for ways to optimize your quality of life. It's better to make half the money and live in a beautiful town than to make twice the money and live in a city that you don't like. What's the point of building an empire if you can't enjoy a sunset on a random Tuesday.
